The NFBA’s Building of the Year awards recognize excellence in post-frame construction across North America, shining a spotlight on outstanding projects and the companies that build them. This annual competition celebrates the craftsmanship and innovation of NFBA member builders, offering a respected platform for companies to present their best work to peers and industry professionals.

To participate in this annual program, builders must be current NFBA members and submit projects that feature post-frame construction in at least 50% of the structure. For 2025, eligible buildings must have been completed between December 1, 2023 and November 30, 2025.

The NFBA has updated the submission process in a few key ways. The award categories remain broad, spanning agricultural storage, barndominiums, residential homes, horse barns, institutional buildings, and more, but entries are now divided into three builder divisions — Experts, Masters, and Premier — based on annual gross volume. This change helps ensure that companies compete against others of similar size and capacity. New rules, instructions, and scoring criteria, along with clearer directions on how to upload photos and documentation through the NFBA Member Portal, were also implemented.

Winning a Building of the Year award brings multiple benefits. Recipients were honored at the prestigious awards luncheon during the Annual Frame Building Expo, in addition to gaining exposure through NFBA publications and communications, and had their projects showcased on the Expo show floor before industry professionals. Winners also received (or will receive) a commemorative plaque that showcases their commitment to quality and excellence in post-frame construction.

For builders looking to elevate their business profile and highlight their finest work, the NFBA Building of the Year awards remain one of the most significant honors in the industry.
